2. SMS / Text Message Communications

  • SMS Consent and Opt-In:
    By providing your phone number on our program enrollment or registration form and checking the consent box, you agree to receive SMS text messages from Malons Project, Inc. These messages may include program reminders, check-in notifications, resource updates, and program-related announcements.
  • Message Frequency:
    Message frequency varies. You may receive up to 4–8 messages per month depending on your program enrollment.
  • Message and Data Rates:
    Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
  • Opt-Out:
    You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent. Email notifications will continue unless you separately request otherwise.

  • No Sharing:
    We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your phone number or SMS consent to any third party for their marketing purposes.

    With partner organizations (such as Life Launch, LLC or Virginia Career Works) when necessary to provide program services and when participant consent has been obtained through a Release of Information form
  • Legal Requirements:
    When required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of participants or the public
  • Service Providers:
    With trusted service providers (such as email and SMS platforms) who assist in program operations and are bound by confidentiality agreements

5. Data Retention

We retain participant information for as long as necessary to provide program services and meet nonprofit reporting obligations, typically for a period of three (3) to seven (7) years following the end of program participation, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

6. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of data transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Malons Project serves youth including minors. When collecting information from or about minors under the age of 18, we require consent from a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under age 13 without verifiable parental consent.

You have the right to:
